fancy buttered toast

K don’t click away just yet! I promise you this fancy buttered toast is somewhat life-changing. Not life-changing in a ridiculous, unnecessary way like the butter board trend is— look, it’s even dangerous LOL—but in a way that makes your mornings, afternoons, or late-night snack sesh feel elevated.

the inspo

This idea came to me as a result of the butter board trend. See rant below.

Do you any idea what I’m talking about? If you don’t it all started on Tik Tok from this video. Nothing against this creator. She didn’t even invent this idea, but it did get popular from her post. I guess I have to give some props, because I got the inspiration for this fancy buttered toast from the butter board trend. But I just think, what is wrong with toast? I can’t eat a board?

And now as I write this post, the butter candle has entered the viral scene. What in the hell? People are making a molded butter candle with a wick and sticking it in a loaf of bread or on a board. Aren’t y’all gonna burn your fingers with this thing? I cannot.

Anyway, back to us reasonable folks. The key to this being fancy and delicious is the bread you start with. I love Tartine sourdough which I pick up at Whole Foods. If you don’t go big with the bread, it’s not going to be amazing. Homemade would be great too, obvs! Now, I could write a dissertation about good bread, but I won’t. Just add as much butter as you can handle. Of course, mine is vegan! Then add a crushed between your fingers sprinkling of herb de provence (it’s the lavender in there that really makes it!), and top with a generous amount of lemon zest and maple syrup.
