vegan flix mix

vegan flix mix_hot for food

Vegan flix mix is gonna be your new favorite snack, guaranteed. Why? Because the new “going out with your friends on weekends” is binge watching Netflix. Don’t deny it. There’s nothing you would rather be doing then re-watching Breaking Bad or mindlessly watching terrible horror movies, especially over this holiday season. And I’ve come up with the perfect snack — one that you’ll be equally as addicted to.

Get on those stretchy pants and go to town with this salty snack tonight! Even mix it with classic popcorn or pumpkin spice popcorn to round out an epic snack party everyone will be jealous of.

The vegan flix mix recipe is kinda old. I made a couple tweaks which aren’t entirely necessary but thought I’d share. In the batch I just made for Christmas 2020 I added about 1/4 cup of nutritional yeast to the melted butter as well as a bit of extra cinnamon! I also tossed in salted peanuts that I had and you could use pecans for a little sweetness if you prefer them over cashews.

Ingredients

  • 3 C Crispix cereal
  • 3 C Cheerios cereal
  • 3 C pretzel sticks
  • 3 C Earth Balance Cheddar Squares (1 box)
  • 1 C roasted cashews
  • 2/3 C vegan butter
  • 1/3 C vegan worcestershire
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp garlic salt

Instructions

  1. Combine cereals, pretzels, crackers, and cashews in a large baking dish or pan.

  2. In a small sauce pan, melt the butter and once it’s melted remove from the heat. Then whisk in worcestershire, garam masala, and cinnamon. Pour this mixture on the contents of the baking dish and add garlic salt. Then toss to coat all the pieces evenly with the butter mixture.

  3. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes at 250°F, tossing every 10 to 15 minutes.

Recipe Notes

If you can’t find the Earth Balance Cheddar Squares where you live, you can use another vegan bite size cracker like bagel crisps.
