    chipotle lime fries

    Jump to Recipe
    chipotle lime fries_hot for food

This recipe came from my first brand partnership with Kin Community and McCain Superfries®. I remember eating these fries at kids birthday parties, the babysitters, or on the weekends at home. So I couldn't pass up an opportunity to fancy up them up into chipotle lime fries.

The new and improved McCain Superfries® contain real ingredients and of course are totally vegan friendly!

Assuming you're no longer a kiddo, making these fries would be perfect for a grownup party. They'd also be a wicked side to have with a juicy vegan burger!

Check out the video for a full step by step or scroll down for the full recipe below.

    Author: Lauren Toyota

    Ingredients

    • 1 bag McCain Superfries® (straight cut)
    • 1 lime
    • ½ teaspoon chipotle chili powder
    • ¼ teaspoon sea salt
    • ½ C vegan mayonnaise
    • 1 tablespoon Sriracha
    • 1 teaspoon onion powder
    • 1 green onion, finely chopped
    • ¼ C finely chopped cilantro

    Instructions

    • Bake fries as per instructions, and meanwhile prepare the spice mix and spicy aioli.
    • In a small bowl, combine chipotle chili powder and sea salt.
    • In another bowl, mix together vegan mayonnaise, the juice of half the lime, sriracha, and onion powder. Stir until well combined and keep in the fridge until ready to serve the fries.
    • When the fries are golden brown and done baking, transfer them to a large mixing bowl. Squeeze the juice of half a lime on the fries and toss in the spice mix until evenly coated.
    • Transfer to a serving platter and drizzle spicy aioli on the fries. Top with green onion and cilantro. Alternatively, you can serve the aioli on the side as a dip.

Hey guys! A lot of your recipes include vegan mayo and in one of your videos you said it's really simple to make. Is it possible for you to post that recipe up? Love your videos and recipes!

I think I meant it's easy to make when you use a pre-made store bought vegan mayo! we like earth island/follow your heart veganaise. They're the OG! Also if you can find it the Wildwood garlic aioli is really good. We will include a mayo recipe at some point but if you have a high powered blender whipping safflower or olive oil into a mayo or aioli is fairly easy. Start with 1/2 c of water or non-dairy milk, add about 1 tbsp vinegar, and then run the blender with that and slowly drizzle in 3/4 C - 1 C oil while it's running. It will get thick. From there you can blend or stir in any other flavourings you might want. Hope that helps!

I've made this recipe a few times now and it's soooo good. I've tried it with regular fries, sweet potato fries, and tater tots and even without the cilantro once because I was out. Great every way I've tried them! These fries are good to serve with veggie burgers because you can use the sauce on your burgers too. Thanks for the recipe! P.S. your blog is one of my go-tos now when I need an easy recipe to make for non-vegan friends & fam. Have yet to find a bad recipe. More "recipe?!" videos please!

One of my favourite recipes, and I'm not even a big fry girl! Love how all the flavours blend so well. I have made this a few times now...sometimes with frozen fries, sometimes with fresh homemade oven roasted ones. Works great either way. Had some leftover sweet potato wedges the other day, and made this using them....also great! Like someone else mentioned, have used the sauce on veggie burgers as well, and it works very well (esp with a black bean burger). Thanks for this simple but super yummy and satisfying recipe!

      Hi,

I cannot find chipotle chili powder in my country. Just wondering if I can substitute chipotle chili powder with paprika powder instead?

I wasn't able to find it either. I substituted a little bit of just regular chili powder and cajun seasoning the first time and it was pretty good. The second time I just used chipotle powder (a seasoning blend that you can find from most brands) and it was pretty great too.

I tried these for the first time tonight to accompany some black bean burgers. My husband knew that the burgers were vegan but he was "so happy that I didn't go vegan with the french fries." I still haven't told him. 😛
