When I posted this on instagram there was a lot of haterade being thrown around because there was no recipe. Well guess what? Making a smoothie is practically the easiest thing on planet earth to create so I don't get why people just don't play around a little more. How do you think we come up with recipes? We play in the kitchen. Anyone can do this.
When I make smoothies I just throw stuff in my vitamix and often I forget what I did and how much of everything I used. Of course it tastes awesome, and then I take a rad photo, and then I want to post it! The end.
But I made this again so I could give you a recipe. It's a lot of coconut stuff but I'm a huge believer that coconut might just cure the world of everything, so let's go for it.
ingredients (makes 3 C):
1 C frozen raspberries
1 frozen banana
2 tbsp coconut cream
1/4 C of coconut cream water (explanation below)
1 tsp coconut oil
1/4 C shredded coconut
3/4 C non-dairy milk
1 pitted medjool date
1 C ice cubes
I've said this before, but I'll say it again. Always have a can of coconut cream handy in the fridge. Blue monkey organic coconut cream is the best kind because it separates the cream from the liquid really well, it tastes really good, plus its organic. This is what we use to make coconut whip topping too!
Open this can of coconut cream and get 2 tbsp of the solid cream for the smoothie. Dig out the rest of the cream and save it in another jar, and then use the sludgy liquid from the bottom in the smoothie too. It's approx. 1/4 C of liquid with some chunks of cream in it. Put this plus all the remaining ingredients into a vitamix or high powered blender and combine until smooth.
