We love this brand new online magazine, #Discover, dedicated to empowering Generation Z in the world of social media! They came by hot for food HQ recently to get a true behind the scenes look at how hot for food really comes together. WATCH the segment below.
The popular online shoe store, shoeme.ca / shoes.com has created #TheCitySeries featuring young entrepreneurs and people who are reppin' their cities in a big way from the west to the east! They came into hot for food HQ to meet with Lauren Toyota and talk all things vegan cooking, what its like being a youtuber, and of course vegan-friendly footwear. It's a beautiful feature you can check out here.
Thank goodness for google translation! We received a tweet informing us that we were mentioned as one of the top 5 vegan YouTube channels in this, apparently very large, Swedish press outlet. There is a new vegan food show on television in Sweden and it's receiving a lot of criticism for being too far removed from everyday living and eating, thereby discouraging people from a plant-based diet. They mention us, along with our internet friends Mary's Test Kitchen and Jenny Mustard as the vegan inspo they should have tried to emulate! I mean, I think that's what it said... I hope the translation was accurate!
We envision a day when having a plant based TV show is no big deal, and it comes off accessible and not weird. While there was really only one we knew about (Jason Wrobel's "How To Live to 100" on Cooking Channel in the USA) it's still nice that some where far far away they've attempted to do it as well! #vegantakeover is happening in big big ways!
We made some new friends! The cool peeps at VerMints hit us up and wanted to talk about how to adopt a vegan lifestyle and more tips for compassionate living, so of course, we were all for it. Read the full interview with Lauren Toyota here!
And if you're looking to freshen your breath the all-natural way, check out more about VerMints here.
The latest issue of Sacred Lifestyle Magazine features a delicious multi-page spread of some our healthiest recipes! This new online magazine is a beautiful publication created to help awaken one's spirit, enlighten, and inspire our collective journey.
Oh lookie here... it's a hot for food recipe sitting at number 2 in this fun listicle titled "foods stuffed inside foods that you'll want to dive into" on mashable.com!
They featured our scrumptious spinach and feta phyllo triangles recipe that you can find here.
What a surprise to see hot for food at the top of the list of inspiring chefs and food bloggers on the tree kisser blog. Jessica compiled an amazing list of everything you need to know if you want to go vegan! Long lists of food bloggers, non-profits and activist organizations, beauty and makeup companies, clothing lines and so much more.
Check out the tree kisser guide to cruelty-free living and go follow all the accounts she mentioned!

Gracing the pages you'll find basically every famous vegan on the planet like Russell Simmons, Moby, Paul McCartney and all kinds of top chefs, athletes, food leaders and influencers. We're on page 77 in a feature called "Top Instagram Plant-Based Foodies" along with insta pals @veganfatkid and @tallulahalexandra... and probably more, but we haven't seen the full issue!
We're so excited but mostly awkward about the fact that we're in this issue with all of our vegan idols. Make sure you pick up a copy asap. Click here to find Thrive Magazine on stands near you!
The amazing folks at Farm Animal Rights Movement (FARM USA) have started featuring some of our recipes in their newsletter, Live Vegan, that promotes the plant based lifestyle from every angle, including their #MeatoutMondays campaign. Because it's true... you can kick the habit one day at a time. That's how we did it!
You can sign up to receive great recipes right to your inbox, as well as lots of great info on activism and what's happening in the vegan community.
We were very excited to see that we were part of blogTO's round up of 15 Instagram accounts for Toronto vegans to follow! We're in great company too, with our friends Doug McNish and the girls of vegangirlfriend being listed as well!
When I started the blog I was very reluctant to start running social media accounts for hot for food. Which is hilarious because now we're over 21k followers on Instagram and running a YouTube channel. Oh and don't forget trying to operate snap chat! Good lord, that's a tough one!
Thank you to everyone who follows us on any of these platforms, because this wouldn't even be anything without your support!
This is the stuff YouTube dreams are made of! Today world famous YouTube celeb Jenna Marbles and her boyfriend Julien posted a new episode of their cooking show J&J's Kitchen. To our surprise they were making our cauliflower buffalo wings together! They even made the vegan ranch dip and said they might have to make another batch immediately!
Jenna said, "THESE ARE FUCKING INCREDIBLE". We're glad you loved them so much Jenna!

As if this year wasn't awesome enough already! Today you can get Gene Baur's new book "Living the Farm Sanctuary Life" and we just happen to have a recipe in it.
This next sentence isn't even going to make sense. Our recipe will be in the book alongside 99 others from the likes of Chloe Coscarelli, Emily Deschanel, and Moby. Exsqueeze me?! Ya, we don't even believe it ourselves. The book has more than just delicious vegan recipes, it will also offer inspiring, practical guidelines on how to incorporate the Farm Sanctuary lifestyle into everyday life.
The book is available to order here and we'd love to see a pic if you already have it in hand. We're waiting for ours to be delivered any day now!
You can watch Gene's interview with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show last night promoting the book and talking all about the environmental benefits of going vegan and the impact this lifestyle change has on our health.
Now check this out! In 2011 I met Gene Baur (and fan-girled) for the first time at an event called 10,000 tastes 10 billion reasons at Yonge & Dundas Square where coincidentally they were giving away free veggie dogs. That's how Gene first started his activism by selling veggie dogs out of a VW van! Now I'm in his cook book... life is crazy.
You probably know by now that we've been working away creating YouTube content since late last year and we've just recently become Kin Community creators! Kin is the #1 lifestyle network on YouTube and we can't wait to work together to grow our following and spread more vegan love.
This doesn't really change much other than the fact that we're one step closer to making our dreams a reality ie: being able to make a living from our ideas! We are continuing to post new videos every Wednesday to our channel and you may start to see some brand marketing and endorsements in our content as the months roll on. The major thing this partnership does is really launch the vegan lifestyle and plant-based eating into the mainstream! Most importantly, we still get full control over our message and branding but now we can deliver even more to you and we couldn't be more thrilled about it all!
Keep watching and subscribe to our channel so you don't miss a thing!
Our good friends at Laika Magazine are thrilled, as are we, to hear that New Zealand is the latest nation to vote earlier this week to ban animal cosmetics testing! As you know I've recently joined the #becrueltyfree campaign with Humane Society International and want to spread awareness about animal testing of cosmetics so that one day we can announce this ban in Canada and other parts of the world where a ban has yet to be discussed.
To celebrate, Laika Magazine wanted me to share a little bit about my cruelty-free beauty routine and what products are in my makeup bag. Read the full interview here.
We were spreading awareness of #becrueltyfree week earlier in March but I'm excited to announce my year round support for this campaign! Humane Society International announced my involvement with this release and an interview about why I'm getting involved and why I live a cruelty-free life in all ways.
